Student Films

The selection of the best films from all domestic film schools, whether high schools or universities, will be showcased in our Student Film Marathon. Films will be screened both at Masaryk Square in Uherské Hradiště and on Czech Television. You may look forward to feature, animated, documentary or experimental films from Prague’s FAMU, Písek’s FAMO, Zlín’s UTB, Plzeň’s West Bohemian University, University of Ostrava, Palacký University Olomouc and Brno’s FAVU. The Marathon was also attended by Václav Hollar’s College, SUŠG Jihlava, SPŠST Panská, SUŠ Ostrava, Michael Private School or SUPŠ Uherské Hradiště. The showcase will be curated by Czech Television media analyst Milan Kruml.

A separate block of Slovak student films, curated by our SFS programmers, will present the documentary Poisoned Well about the terrorist attack in the LGBTQ+ bar Tepláreň in Bratislava in autumn 2022; the story of the secret love of two young women under socialism, Last Chance, the drama Far Between Us about a little boy raised by a gay couple, who later starts to look for his biological mother; two stories of a mid-life crisis with a touch of eroticism – both the male one (This Special Day), and the female one (Hot Flush); the animated film about the relativity of values (On a High Horse) and the documentary about an unconventional use of virtual reality (Fairytale of the Way to the Sea).

Programmers:
