1. Safe Space for Everyone
We strive to ensure that every visitor, guest, and member of the festival team feels safe, welcome, and respected at the Summer Film School, regardless of their views, religious beliefs, background, identity, or individual needs.
The Summer Film School brings together people with different worldviews. We see diversity not as an obstacle, but an opportunity to mutual enrichment. Expressions of hatred, humiliation, or personal attacks have no place at the festival.
2. Culture of Dialogue
Discussions on social, cultural, or political topics are an integral part of the festival programme, as long as they are related to specific films or thematic sections.
These discussions are led in a manner that emphasizes objectivity, openness, and mutual respect. The same culture of dialogue is expected of guests, hosts, and audience.
Any form of disrespect, discrimination, hate speech, or personal attacks is contrary to the festival values. The organizer reserves the right to take appropriate measures to ensure a safe and respectful environment, including interrupting a discussion or asking a participant to leave the event if they seriously or repeatedly violate these rules.
The same principles apply to the online space, particularly to the official communication channels and social media accounts of the Summer Film School and its organizer, the Association of Czech Film Clubs. The digital space should remain safe for open, objective, and respectful discussion. The organizer reserves the right to moderate content on social media platforms, remove comments containing personal attacks, humiliation, disrespect, hate speech, discrimination, or bullying; to remove posts that violate the festival values; and, in justified cases, to restrict or completely block users who seriously or repeatedly violate these rules.
3. Independence of Summer Film School
The Summer Film School is an independent cultural institution. We do not accept any form of collaboration or partnership that could jeopardize our impartiality, credibility, or independence from political parties and their representatives.
Independence does not mean avoiding important social issues. We believe that culture should foster open discussion and critical thinking.
For the Summer Film School, it is crucial to remain independent of any political party, to treat all people equally, and to create a space for free exchange of diverse opinions based on respect, reasoning, and willingness to listen.
The Summer Film School does not provide a space for the promotion of political parties, political movements, or election campaigns.
The festival does not collaborate with organizations or individuals whose public statements conflict with its values, particularly if they incite hatred, discrimination, or a lack of mutual respect.
The compilation of the festival programme and the selection of films, guests, and accompanying events are based exclusively on artistic, professional, and cultural criteria.
We do not allow political parties, political movements, or their representatives to interfere in this process in any way.
These values do not restrict freedom of speech. Their purpose is to ensure that the Summer Film School remains an open, safe, and inspiring space for encounters, sharing experiences, mutual understanding, and dialogue.
