The Famous Unknown: Lina Wertmüller

Lina Wertmüller, one of the most significant female directors in the history of European cinema, will be presented through a selection of her iconic works. We begin with her debut feature, The Basilisks (1963), proceed with the films that shaped her distinctive auteurist vision, such as Love & Anarchy (1973) or Swept Away... By an Unusual Destiny in the Blue Sea of August (1974), and wrap up with the film that earned her international recognition, Seven Beauties (1975). In this way, we become acquainted with the unique blend of comedy, grotesque elements and social reflection that characterizes Wertmüller’s style.
